A bit of history
Bredasdorp was founded in 1838 and named after Michiel van Breda, a respected local figure and farmer.
The town developed as an agricultural centre, especially known for wheat, sheep farming, and trade across the Overberg region.
Today, Bredasdorp remains the commercial hub of the southern Overberg, with a strong sense of heritage and community.
