A bit of history
Cathcart was established in the mid-1800s during the frontier era of the Eastern Cape and named after Sir George Cathcart, a British governor and military figure.
The town grew as a service centre for surrounding farms and became known for livestock, wool, and agriculture.
Today, Cathcart remains a proud rural town with deep historical roots and enduring character.
