Albertinia was established in the early 1900s and named after Johannes Rudolph Albertyn, a respected Dutch Reformed Church minister who played a key role in the community.
The town grew steadily through farming — especially wheat, sheep, and later, aloe cultivation.
Over time, Albertinia became known across South Africa for its production of Aloe Ferox, a plant used for natural health and skincare products.
Today, it proudly holds its identity as the “Aloe Capital of South Africa.”
