AURORA
“Where the West Coast slows down… and the silence speaks.”
Something unique about our little town…
There’s something deeply calming about Aurora — a quiet village tucked between rolling hills and open skies on the West Coast.
It’s the kind of place where nothing feels rushed. Where gravel roads lead to unexpected views, and the air feels cleaner, lighter… freer.
In spring, the land transforms into a carpet of wildflowers. In summer, it returns to its raw, sunbaked beauty.
No noise. No distractions.
Just space, stillness, and the simple rhythm of country life.
A bit of history
Aurora is located near the Piketberg in the Western Cape.
The town was established in 1906 and developed as a small farming community serving the surrounding wheat and livestock farms.
Its name, “Aurora,” means “dawn” — a fitting tribute to the breathtaking sunrises that light up the landscape each morning.
Over the years, it has remained largely untouched by rapid development, preserving its rural charm and close-knit community feel.
Did you know?
Aurora sits in a region that bursts into colour during wildflower season — attracting visitors from across the country to witness one of nature’s most spectacular displays.
