Bela-Bela | Warmbad

BELA-BELA (Limpopo)

“Where warm waters meet the bushveld”

Something unique about our little town…

There’s a natural warmth in Bela-Bela — not just from its famous hot springs, but from the land, the people, and the atmosphere.

Set in the heart of the Waterberg bushveld, this town blends relaxation with adventure. Here, steam rises gently from mineral-rich waters while the sounds of nature carry through the trees.

Mornings start with birdsong and soft bushveld light, while afternoons are spent soaking in warm pools or exploring the wild surroundings.

No stress. No rush. Just rest, nature, and renewal.

It’s not just a getaway… it’s a place to recharge.

A bit of history

Bela-Bela’s story begins with its natural hot springs, discovered and used by Tswana communities in the 1800s.

They named it “Bela-Bela,” meaning boiling boiling, because of the naturally heated water rising from underground.

Later, European settlers such as Jan Grobler and Carl van Heerden arrived in the late 1800s, and the town became known as Warmbaths during and after the Anglo-Boer War.

Today, it carries both its heritage and its modern identity — a place built around healing waters and natural beauty.
