A bit of history
Brits was established in the early 20th century and named after Johannes Nicolaas Brits, an early settler in the area.
The town developed rapidly through agriculture, particularly citrus farming and tobacco, and later became a major centre for platinum mining and manufacturing.
Today, Brits remains one of the economic engines of the North West.
