Middelburg Mpumalanga

MIDDELBURG (Mpumalanga)

“Where industry meets open sky”

Something unique about our little town…

Middelburg in Mpumalanga is built on movement — a town powered by energy, industry, and ambition.

Set on the Highveld, it blends heavy industry with wide-open landscapes. You’ll find coal, steel, and power stations — but also quiet suburbs, farms, and big skies that stretch forever.

It’s strong. It’s steady. It works hard.

This is where South Africa keeps moving.

A bit of history

Middelburg was founded in the late 1800s and named for its central position between Pretoria and Lydenburg.

It quickly grew into a major industrial hub due to rich coal deposits and its strategic location on transport routes.

Today, it remains one of the country’s key centres for steel production and energy.
